iPhone 7 - can't charge while listening to music?

iPhone 7 - can't charge while listening to music?

I listen to music through my headphones all day at work on my iPhone 6s. In order to do this I need to have my iPhone on charge otherwise it won't last all day.

As far as I can see, the iPhone 7 won't allow me to do this!!

Looking at the included lightning ear pods and the lightning to 3.5mm jack, it doesn't appear that there is a way to charge and listen at the same time.

This single issue will prevent me from upgrading to the iPhone 7.

Am I missing something?

The only way to listen to music while iPhone is charging is to use bluetooth headphones.

Yeah, I thought about that but I much prefer wired headphones and the (fairly expensive) ones I use are wired.

Just seems like an odd omission that you can't use what comes in the box, or your favorite wired cans, if you also want to charge your phone.

I'd have thought it would have been fairly straightforward to add a lightning pass-through to the 3.5mm adapter.

Maybe the way I use my phone (as above) isn't as common as I think.

The simple explanation may be if you bought $100 set of cans a year ago manufactures are hoping you will buy a $150 wireless set this year. Dr. Dre isn't going to get mad rich just dropping tight beats yo.

Yeah, I didn't doubt that there'd be some 3rd party solutions, my point was that IMHO something like the Belkin's Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar™ should have been included in the box.
