iPhone 7 - can't charge while listening to music?

I listen to music through my headphones all day at work on my iPhone 6s. In order to do this I need to have my iPhone on charge otherwise it won't last all day.

As far as I can see, the iPhone 7 won't allow me to do this!!

Looking at the included lightning ear pods and the lightning to 3.5mm jack, it doesn't appear that there is a way to charge and listen at the same time.

This single issue will prevent me from upgrading to the iPhone 7.

Am I missing something?

Yeah, I thought about that but I much prefer wired headphones and the (fairly expensive) ones I use are wired.

Just seems like an odd omission that you can't use what comes in the box, or your favorite wired cans, if you also want to charge your phone.

I'd have thought it would have been fairly straightforward to add a lightning pass-through to the 3.5mm adapter.

Maybe the way I use my phone (as above) isn't as common as I think.

Hi

Options include:

iPhone Dock

Belkin's Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar™ enables you to charge your iPhone whilst also listening to music via wired headphones. It supports use of:

  • The supplied EarPods (or other headphones with a Lightning connector).
  • Headphones with a 3.5mm jack, when connected via the Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (which is included with the iPhone).

Other accessories may follow in due course from Apple and/or third-party manufacturers.

When buying any accessory for your iPhone, ensure that it is either a genuine Apple product or that - like the Belkin product - it has been certified as Made for iPhone (MFi).

Using uncertified or counterfeit accessories may damage your iPhone and/or adversely affect operation. Also note that Apple's warranty does not cover damage caused by use with a third party product that does not meet Apple's specifications.

My reply related to your comment about making a point, not to your original question:

.. my point was that IMHO something like the Belkin's Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar™ should have been included in the box.

I hoped to explain that, if you would like to share your thoughts with Apple, you can ensure that your feedback is read by submitting the form here:
